Families Matter is a national movement dedicated to protecting the constitutional rights of children and ensuring that families are never harmed by systems that violate federal law without consequence.

We are not asking for reform. We are demanding accountability.

Children’s rights already exist. Federal protections already exist. The problem is that agencies, courts, and institutions routinely ignore those rights — and nothing happens when they do.

Families Matter exists to expose the hidden administrative practices that separate families, challenge doctrines that silence parents, and demand enforcement of the constitutional protections every child is already guaranteed.

Our mission is to transform pain into purpose by advocating for truth, accountability, and justice so no family endures what ours did.

Children’s rights are protected under the U.S. Constitution, not state constitutions. When agencies violate those rights, they violate federal law.

This movement exists because:

Families Matter is a national movement committed to protecting the constitutional rights of children and ensuring that families are never harmed by systems that violate federal law without transparency, oversight, or consequences.

We were founded on a simple but powerful truth: Children are citizens — and their rights matter. For too long, families across the United States have been impacted by administrative practices that operate in the shadows, without meaningful checks, balances, or due process. These failures have left countless children vulnerable and countless families silenced.

Families Matter exists to change that — not through reform, but through accountability.

Our Story

Families Matter began with one family’s experience navigating a system that failed to follow the law, failed to protect children, and failed to correct its own violations. What started as a personal fight for truth and justice grew into a national call for accountability — a movement built from lived experience, legal research, and the unwavering belief that no child should ever be placed at risk because institutions violated their rights.

Our founder, Linda Harris, transformed her family’s pain into purpose. Through years of advocacy, documentation, and public education, she uncovered the systemic gaps that allow children’s rights to be ignored and families to be separated without proper oversight.

Families Matter is the result of that journey: a movement dedicated to ensuring that what happened to one family never happens to another — and that when agencies violate federal rights, they are held accountable.

Why Federal Oversight Matters

State agencies do not have the final say over children’s rights. The U.S. Constitution does.

Families Matter is built on a simple, powerful truth: When state actors violate federal rights, federal oversight is not optional — it is required.

Across the country, families are harmed not because the law is unclear, but because state systems operate without consequences when they violate the federal protections children already have.

These violations include:

When these violations occur, families are told to “appeal within the state,” even though the state itself is the source of the violation. Oversight agencies dismiss complaints. Courts ignore evidence. Administrative bodies protect their own institutions.
